TESTIMONIALS

GREG W. PERTH, Western Australia

Everything good in my life comes from windsurfing, my wife, worldwide community, fitness and wellbeing.

I stopped windsurfing for 20 years and I like to say “The worst thing I did was stop windsurfing but the best I have ever done is to take it up again”.  I came back to the sport in 2012 on shortboards and had a lot fun, but 2018 I bought a LT which I love so much more.  The LT is so versatile and I can sail so much more.  On shortboards you spend so much time waiting for wind but on LT you are good to go from 1 knot to 30 knots.

My story, now age 53.  Took 25 years off windsurfing.  Bought a short board and immediately dislocated my shoulder on day one.  Bought one of the first LTs in the States.  After one summer, I was back to racing Windsurfers and back on the short board, now with control.  Continued to sail LT for next five years and picked up wind foiling and wing foiling along the way.  Found an amazing community of sailors, some of whom are truly exceptional competitors and all of whom are great fun.  Sailors in their 70s are legit competitors at the Worlds, often beating the young guns like me at 53.  I wish I had gone straight to the LT when I got back into windsurfing.  I would have saved time, money and a future shoulder surgery.

Here is my quick story for others thinking about it. I have come back after 35 years. A major life change, lack of friends, grown kids and being alone I decided to come back to a passion and the fond memories.

I got an LT for the exact reasons mentioned in this video. Easy to get back, fun in any wind. The only thing I did different was I never went with the standard LT rig. I got a different rig mainly for the conditions and if I want a smaller board later I can use the rig I put together. The board is very fast and fun. I found a local Facebook group and have met new like minded people. So I will say that if you are looking to get back this is the way to go. At 58 I'm looking to have fun and not struggle. The LT is it. Good luck and enjoy. Feel free to ask any questions from someone who is just a weekend warrior.

Are you thinking of returning to sailing? Here's why the LT is perfect for you.

Are you sailing with a crew? Here's how the LT can add a new dimension of fun to your sailing.
